She's writing the book she couldn't find when she needed it most!
Angel Smythe Parisi spent decades teaching children, leading worship, and speaking into the lives of women. Then she reached a season that caught her off guard, and realized that what she needed most was someone who would tell the truth about it rather than tidy it up. That is the book she is writing, and it is why this space exists.
Angel Smythe Parisi is a women's ministry leader, recording artist, educator, and speaker whose life is the living proof behind every page of Nevertheless Faith. In her early fifties, Angel navigated a convergence of losses that would have buckled most women. Her husband nearly died from COVID pneumonia. She retired from a twenty-three-year teaching career. Her mother-in-law moved in. A cross-country relocation uprooted everything familiar. And beneath it all, undiagnosed Hashimoto's disease was quietly reshaping her body and her energy. She opened her Bible because it was all she had, and it was enough.
Day by day, verse by verse, she began to understand something she had missed: holding it all together is not the same as trusting God. That distinction is the heartbeat of this book, and it is one Angel has earned the right to make. She is not writing from a place of arrival. She is still in it, still trusting, still holding on loosely, and still finding Him faithful. She has led worship for nearly forty years, serving alongside notable pastors including Chuck Smith, Rick Warren, and Skip Heitzig. Her album A Stronger Me received three Los Angeles Music Awards and launched A Stronger Me Women's Conferences across Southern California.
She is currently on staff at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Texas, where she serves in both adult ministry and worship. Her writing has appeared in Perspectives on Worship: 52 Stories, Thoughts & Insights alongside respected voices including Babbie Mason and Greg Long. She will be featured in Proverbs 31 Ministries' Encouragement for Today devotional in July 2026 and has written devotional content for Prestonwood Women's Bible Study. Angel is known for her quick wit, her gift for connection, and the ability to speak difficult truths with enough grace that they feel like wisdom from a trusted friend. She lives in Texas with her husband Brian, his mom, and their sweet little chihuahua mix.

At the center of everything Angel writes and speaks is what she calls Nevertheless Faith: choosing dependence on God even when circumstances give you every reason not to. She comes back to it through some of the hardest questions a woman can ask. What happens to her identity when the roles she built her sense of self around shift or disappear. How faith holds up under anxiety, health challenges, and the grief of a season that was supposed to feel different by now.
Angel writes and speaks about the faithfulness of God in the seasons when it is hardest to believe it. She gives voice to the thing most women are afraid to say out loud: that trusting God does not always make the hard seasons easier. Her message is that He is not waiting on the other side of your circumstances. He is already there, already working, and that conviction is what holds you together when you cannot hold it yourself.
She wants women to leave her books and events with Scripture that has moved from the page into their actual lives, a clearer sense of who they are apart from what they do, and the conviction that their most meaningful contributions are not behind them. She wants women who have been carrying anxiety for years to discover that dependence on God is not weakness. And she wants every woman in the room to feel seen before she feels challenged.
A few things that have shaped what she brings to the room.
Angel has been in vocational ministry since age fifteen, beginning with a youth outreach musical that toured the United States and Canada. She holds a master's degree in teaching, spent twenty-three years in the elementary school classroom, and was named Teacher of the Year in 2020. She has led worship, founded A Stronger Me Ministries, and organized full-day and weekend women's conferences, speaking at events across California and beyond.
She has recorded two full-length albums and received four Los Angeles Music Awards in 2011, including Record of the Year and Female Singer Songwriter of the Year. Her writing has appeared in devotional collections for women affected by trafficking, and she has a devotion forthcoming in Proverbs 31 Ministries' Encouragement for Today in July 2026. All of it, the music, the classroom, the ministry, and the hard seasons she has walked through personally, is what she brings when she speaks or writes.
